Lorain County ground does not stay clear on its own. Leave a lot alone for a decade and you get the standard succession: buckthorn and honeysuckle first, then grapevine over everything, then volunteer ash, boxelder, and cottonwood coming up faster than anyone mows. What does land clearing cost per acre?
In Lorain County, light brush and scrub clearing typically runs $1,500 to $3,000 per acre; ground thick with established trees and stumps runs $3,000 to $6,000 or more. Most residential jobs are fractions of an acre - a fence line, a back corner, an overgrown side lot - and get priced as the job they are, in writing, after a walk-through.
Can you clear just a fence line or property edge?
That is the most common clearing call we get: the property line that disappeared into buckthorn, grapevine, and volunteer trees. We cut to the line, grind or treat the stumps so it does not all come back next summer, and haul or chip everything - leaving a line you can actually put a fence on.
Do I need permits to clear my lot?
Private-lot brush clearing generally needs no permit, but two checks are worth making first: anything in a designated floodplain or riparian setback along the Black River corridor may have rules, and utility easements running through a lot should be located before machines dig. We flag both during the walk-through - and call OHIO811 before any grinding below grade.
What happens to all the material?
Brush gets chipped on site - the chips are yours free if you want mulch, hauled if you do not. Usable wood is bucked and stacked or hauled. Stumps get ground below grade. The estimate lists each so the "cleared" in land clearing means actually gone, not pushed into a pile on the back line.
